The democratic Republic of Lao is located in the center of Indochina, sharing borders with China to north west, Thailand to west, Cambodia to the south, and Vietnam to the east. Laos has a population of a bout 5,5 millions inhabitants and make up of 48 different ethnic groups with an are of 236,800 square kilometres. Around 70 % of its terrain is mountainous reaching a maximum elevation of 2,820 m in Xieng Khuang province. The landscapes of northern Laos and regions adjacent to Vietnam in particular are dominated by hills. The Mekong river is the main geographical feature in the west and in fact, from a natural border with Thailand and some areas. The Mekong flows through nearly 1,900 km of Laos. In the south the Mekong reaches a breadth of 14 km, creating an area with thousands of land. The capital Vientian and all other major cities and towns are located on the bank of the Mekong river, while virtually every village depends on the vital bon between the land and water. The first kingdom of laos is Lane Xang kingdom (the Land of Million Elephants)
Day 1. Arival in Vientiane
Greeting by our guide at the airport, tranfer to hotel for check-in. Afternoon city tour including the Great Sacred Stupa - That Luang, Wat Phra Keow, Wat Sisaket and the morning market. Overnight in Vientiane.
Day 2. Vientiane - Luang Prabang
After breakfast, transfer to airport for flight to Luang Prabang. Upon arrival, transfer to a hotel. Afternoon explore the beautiful town, visiting Wat Visounalat, known as “the Watermelon Stupa”; the ornate Wat Mai; and Wat Xieng Thong, an exquisite 400-year-old royal monastery complex. Late afternoon, climb Phousi Hill to view the sunset over the Mekong River and mountains. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 3. Luang Prabang
Early morning see long lines of barefoot monk in procession through the streets of Luang Prabang. Afterwards travel up the Mekong by motor boat to the Pak Ou Caves, a mystical pigrimage site above the river. Over the past five centuries, kings, princes, merchants, and peasants have come to the caves to worship, leaving behind more than 3,000 statues of the Buddha. Along the way visit Ban Sang Hai where they make traditional sticky rice liquor. Late afternoon, return to Luang Prabang. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 4. Luang Prabang - Vientiane
Morning visit the Royal Palace, the National Museum, continue visit to H’mong ang K’hmu villages, a weaving village and the Kuang Si Waterfalls. Return to the town. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Vientiane. Overnight in Vientiane .
Day 5. Vientiane - Departure
After breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
