Cu Chi - Tay Ninh 1day

AM. Departure from your hotel at 8:00am. Enjoy a morning drive through typical southern Vietnamese countryside to Tayninh province in the west of Hochiminh City. At Tayninh visit the incredible Caodai Great Temple with architecture that could have come straight from a Walt Disney fantasy and where all the major faith of the world blend together in a unique religious cocktail. Everyday at noon the Caodaism hold their mass so why not enjoy the ceremony.

PM. In the afternoon proceed to Cuchi, to visit Cuchi tunnels-the underground village, which became legendary during the 1960s for its role in the Vietnam war. Located about 75 km north west of Saigon, the tunnels were part of an underground network that zigzagged from the southern tip of the HCM trail near the Cambodian border to the Saigon river. In the District of Cuchi alone, there were over 200 km of tunnels. The network, parts of which were several stories deep, included innumerable trap doors, kitchens, clinics with operating rooms, meeting rooms and sleeping chambers with bamboo beds. The network also incorporated drinking wells, ventilation shafts, false tunnels and booby-trapped passages. The tunnels were built with simple hand tools. The deepest layer of the tunnels lay about 10 meters underground, and up to 16000 guerrillas could live in the tunnel complex at any one time. Back to your hotel at around 5:30 PM.
